How Ground an Old Light Push Button Light Switch
As a responsible home owner, make sure the push button light switch is in accordance with the National Electrical Code. Examine the light switch before connecting to the wall outlet. The switch must have a ground wire as ground wire is an important safety feature used to prevent electrical fires.
Turn off the circuit breaker that provides power to the push button light switch. Examine the ground wire in the switch light switch. If the cable shows signs of damage or corrosion, use wire strippers to cut the damaged part. Strip 3/4-inch of insulation from the end of the ground wire using the wire strippers. Wrap the ground wire around the ground screw into the wall receptacle. The ground screw is the top screw on the left of the receptacle.
Tighten the screw with a screwdriver, in order to ensure the ground wire. Wrap duct tape around the terminals, and then press the power button on the wall box. Set the push button light switch on the wall socket with screws. Install the switch plate back in place, then turn on the circuit breaker.Popular Terms : old push button lamp switch
